Juan Sébastien Jimenez : bass guitar

Born October 25th 1973, Paris (France).

When you see him play his six-string bass guitar with prodigious virtuosity, you'd swear he's played that instrument all his life, yet Juan Sébastien was originally a drummer/percussionist, turning to classical guitar at age 15. In 1989, he finally chose bass, and started lessons in harmony, string bass, classical percussion and composition, studying with François Jeanneau, once the director of the prestigious Orchestre National de Jazz. Having developed a taste for Venezuelian music under the guidance of his father Guillermo Jimenez Léal, he has played in various latin-jazz groups, and sat in on percussion at various gigs. He has toured Europe with Brazilian singer Raphael Lima, to mention but one of the many artists he has played for. In 1994, Juan Sébastien was the founder and leader of Hexane, a jazz-rock band that also featured Mathias Desmier. It was Mathias who recommended him for the bass player spot in Forgas Band Phenomena in the spring of 1998. Since then his role in the band has been crucial and expanding.
